Profile
The Harbour Tavern is the premier British Pub in Kobe, located just across the road from Sannomiya Station.
The pub has gone through a couple of name changes (Ryans & Hobgoblin) since its opening in 1999 but all the good things you expect from a pub have remained the same. You can get a pint, a decent meal, watch sport and enjoy a lively conversation with fellow patrons or pub staff.
Located on the 7th floor on the main corner of Sannomiya overlooking the station, the pub seats 50. It was rebranded as the Harbour Tavern in 2016 when Simon Thomas took over as owner. Simon is an experienced publican who has been serving in Kobe for over 20 years.
There are 9 taps serving a range of Japanese and international draught beers and ciders. The fridge is also stocked with a variety of craft beer bottles. The liquor shelf is full of your usual suspects plus a nice selection of Japanese whiskey.
The food menu is impressive with your classic British dishes including fish & chips, sausages & mash and pies. Burgers, lasagna, pizza, turkey clubs and the iconic Aussie chicken parmigiana all go down a treat too.
On Sunday the Harbour Tavern opens early at 3pm and serves up a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings for only ¥1200.
With 8 screens the pub accommodates a full range of sports including the English Premier League, F1, rugby, all major tennis opens and more. There is a free darts board in the corner, which can be hard to come by in Japan.
Happy hour runs from 5pm to 7pm Monday thru Saturday. Most Friday & Saturday nights there is a live band or DJ performing.
If you are living in Kobe or just passing through, stop by one of the best pubs in Kobe.
