Website Developer / Owner

Stephen Bascomb

G’day, I’m Stephen Bascomb the owner and developer of HyogoJapan.com. I grew up in the small town of Lara, Victoria, Australia and moved to Kobe, Japan in 2004. My initial plan to stay one year has taken me on a rollercoaster ride we call life and I still call Kobe home so many years later. You can read more about my story and my journey in Japan on the Kansai Startup website.

In 2015 I started to think of a way to utilize my knowledge of the region with my passion for IT. Through this ProjectKobe.com was born in late-2016.

As the Project Kobe social media sites gained a large following (11,000 followers on Facebook), the area I started to cover also grew. I started to expand the directory and guide to areas outside Kobe city. I soon realized the name “Project Kobe” didn’t match the website content. Continue to strive for excellence, HyogoJapan.com was born,  a dedicated Hyogo tourism information site aimed at visitors and expats.

ProjectKobe.com is still operated as the inbound tourism solutions site aimed at Japanese organizations. The goal of ProjectKobe.com is to build relationships with businesses and organizations to help improve the quality of inbound tourism, services and English language information available for Kobe city and Hyogo prefecture.
