If you’re planning to visit the Kansai region this winter, this event is a must-see. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

The Kobe Illuminage for the year 2023-2024 is set to be held from November 1, 2023, to February 12, 2024, at the Michi-no-Eki Kobe Fruit and Flower Park.

This year, the event is themed “Secret Garden,” promising a fantastical display of lights that will captivate your senses.

What’s New This Year?

  • Arabian Palace: Following the Pink Palace and Ice Palace, this year introduces the Arabian Palace, a new addition that promises to capture hearts with its elegant and exotic Arabian style.
  • Pet-Friendly Illumination: For the first time, the event will feature a pet-friendly illumination area, complete with toys and photo spots for your furry friends.
  • Interactive Attractions: This year, the event will also feature new interactive attractions like a Jurassic maze and a giant illuminating piano that plays music when you step on it.

Ticket Information

  • Regular Tickets: Adults (13 and above) – ¥1800, Children (1-12 years) – ¥1000
  • Priority Tickets: Adults – ¥2300, Children – ¥1500
  • Pet Tickets: ¥500
  • Infants: Free

Note: Priority/Express tickets allow you to enter through a separate entrance, reducing waiting time. In our experience, there’s generally been no wait time when we’ve visited, although we usually go on weekdays. I can’t speak for weekends, which might be busier.

Tips for Visitors

  • The event runs from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with the lights turning on at 5:30 PM and off at 9:30 PM.
  • It can get quite cold during the evening, especially in the deeper winter months, so make sure to dress warmly.
