The B-1 Grand Prix in Akashi is a gourmet food festival with 55 stalls selling local specialties from all over Japan.
This year Akashi is celebrating its 100 year anniversary since establishment of the city and Akashi Castle is celebrating its 400th year. This event is help revitalisation local areas, bring communities together, showcase regional towns throughout Japan and draw tourists to Akashi to experience the charms of the city.
The B-1 Grand Prix has 9 areas spread out over the two main sites. 6 areas are in and around Akashi Castle Park while another 3 areas are near the waterfront of Akashi City Hall.
In addition to the gourmet stalls, a bunch of events for kids and adults alike such as face painting, origami and dance performance will be held. Local attractions such as the Akashi Planetarium and Akashi Museum of Culture have free entry over the B-1 Grand Prix weekend.
The event runs on November 23rd and 24th from 9:30am to 3:30pm both days. This is a ticketed event, no cash is accepted at the stalls. A booklet of 10 tickets costs ¥1000 and most food items sell at 3, 4 or 5 tickets.
