Ako Seaside Park (赤穂海浜公園) is a spacious park with plenty of grass areas and activities for the whole family in Ako city, the far west of Hyogo Prefecture. The park is a great day trip from Kobe and takes around 90 minutes by car. It is free to enter but parking costs ¥550.

The playground facilities were updated in 2023 and have 4 different areas that all age groups can enjoy. There is the “sunken pirate ship”, a toddler area, an area for ages 3-6 and a bigger playground for ages 6-12.

WakuWaku Land is a kids carnival area with some bouncing castles, trampolines, go-carts, bike monorails and more. (The Ferris wheel and petting zoo were removed in 2022). The facility is dated and the attractions are operated on the weekends and public holidays only. Each amusement is a rather pricy ¥400 and up.

At the centre of Ako Seaside Park is a large lake, which is great place to relax around with a bento or your own snacks. Paddle boats are available for hire too.

Located inside the park is the Ako Marine Science Museum where you can learn about the salt industry and make your own salt! Next to the park is the Ako Seaside Auto Camping Grounds.
