Profile
Higashi Yuenchi Park is a relaxing mini-oasis grassed park in urban Sannomiya, around 700 meters south of JR Sannomiya Station.
The park has some memorial points of interest related to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995. These include the eternal flame, an underground tribute with all victims names listed and the fallen “Marina” clock with the time remaining at 5:46 am, the time the earthquake struck.
The park is also home to the annual Kobe Luminarie light festival dedicated to the earthquake victims. This illumination display is held in December.
Recently, a local farmers market, Eat Local Kobe, is held every Saturday morning. You can find a variety of fresh organic products on sale.
