Isomaru Suisan 磯丸水産三宮駅前店 is a lively izakaya where you can grill fresh seafood on the little BBQ grill on your table. This chain izakaya has over 100 stores across Japan, with about 5 in Hyogo Prefecture.

The main Kobe store in Sannomiya has 3 floors all with a vibrant atmosphere open 24 hours. The fishing port vibe inside the store has plenty of hanging lanterns, large fishing poster, ship flags and friendly staff wearing brightly coloured yukata. As you enter the store you can see the fish tank with fresh shellfish waiting for you.

Language won’t be an issue as you can select English from the tablet style menu. Shrimp, blowfish, scollops, squid, salmon and more. If you aren’t a seafood fan there are still plenty of other dishes you can order. The drink menu is also vast with sake, cocktails and beer. Draught beer sells for around ¥550.

Non-smoking for lunch times, with smoking allowed in the evening.

Isomaru Suisan is a great spot to get a taste of Japan at a reasonable price.
