Profile
Enjoy Japanese sake from 26 different breweries at Nadagogo Sakedokoro 灘五郷酒所.
The Nadagogo region of Kobe and Nishinomiya is the largest sake producing area in the world. Sake production here is said to of started around 700 years ago in 1330, which also makes it the oldest sake producing area in the world. Nadagogo means “The Five Villages of Nada” and includes Nishi-go (西郷), Mikage-go (御影郷), Uozaki-go (魚崎郷), Nishinomiya-go (西宮郷), and Imazu-go (今津郷).
At Nadagogo Sakedokoro, you can enjoy sake from each of these regions along with food pairings. It is a ticket based system with the first purchase of 15 tickets for ¥3000 necessary. Additional 5 tickets for ¥1000 are avialable. I highly recommend to get the Nadagogo Sakedo Set for ¥2400. This includes 5 glasses of sake and 3 seasonal food dishes. Other glasses of sake and food are available for ¥400 or 2 tickets and up.
Located in the heart of the sake brewing district, Nadagogo Sakedokoro is about a 10 minute walk south of Hanshin Mikage Station. The long standing bar is housed in the old Kenbishi Brewery factory and is currently open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
There are a number of well known sake breweries and museums in the area, so why not make a day of it and explore the rich history of Japanese sake.
