Nature Studio Kobe is a multi-purpose community facility in Kobe, housed in a renovated building that was formerly the historic Minatoyama Elementary School. Opened in July 2022, Nature Studio blends its rich history with modern amenities to create a unique space where visitors can engage with nature through a variety of activities and programs.
Minatoyama Aquarium みなとやま水族館 integrated within Nature Studio, occupies what used to be the school’s library and science room. It features diverse marine life exhibits and offers interactive experiences such as fish feeding and educational tours, making it a perfect destination for families and marine life enthusiasts.
Nature Studio Kobe also includes:
- Open Air Craft Beer Brewery: Located in the old school kitchen, it uses locally sourced herbs and Kobe’s underground water to produce fresh craft beer.
- A Food Hall: Converted from the old gymnasium, it provides a space where visitors can enjoy a handful of dishes usch as curry and tacos.
- An Edible Garden: Situated on the former school grounds, this garden focuses on herbs and plants that can be used for both culinary and medicinal purposes.
- Outdoor Activities: The facility offers spaces for outdoor activities like rainbow trout fishing, adding to the hands-on nature experience.
Nature Studio Kobe and Minatoyama Aquarium are about a 15~20 minute walk from Okurayama Station (Kobe City Subway). There is also car parking available.
