Discover the historic town of Tanba-Sasayama as you walk through the well preserved streets and around the Sasayama Castle Ruins.
Sasayama Castle was built in 1609 with the town quickly developing below it. The large castle walls remain and the Oshoin, the main building of the castle was reconstructed in 2000.
The castle grounds are large and wide open with shrines, beautiful maple and cherry trees and views over the town and mountains. These grounds are free to enter. To discover more history about the region enter the Oshoin for only ¥400.
Sasayama Castle and the town are well worth the visit for anyone coming to the Kansai Region. You will be able to enjoy the region in a day trip from Kobe, Osaka or Kyoto.
Access by car, large car park available near the castle or take a train to JR Sasayamaguchi Station, take the Shinki Green Bus from the West exit of JR Sasayamaguchi Station and get off at Nikaimachi Stop.
