Profile
Affordable Kobe Beef in Kobe Japan. When you think about Kobe beef, affordability isn’t usually a word that comes to mind but Steakland is one restaurant that serves up a decent meal at a reasonable price.
There are 3 Steakland restaurants in downtown Kobe, all within walking distance to Sannomiya Station. Here we review Steakland Kobekan ステーキランド 神戸館 located on the 6th floor of the Sannomiya Kogyo Building, down a small side street just north of Sannomiya Hankyu station.
Steakland Kobekan is a large place with around a dozen teppanyaki (hot plates) that can sit 9 people. This is a busy, crowded place with waiters and cooks darting back and forth from different teppanyaki grills, it can be hard to get their attention so a large “sumimasen” when you see a staff member pass is best.
We went for the “Special Kobe Steak Dinner” which includes 200g of Kobe beef, an appetizer, soup, salad, fresh seafood cooked on the teppanyaki, grilled veggies, bread or rice, dessert and a coffee. All this for ¥6,480 is a very reasonable deal. Drink prices are also standard at around ¥700 for a beer or glass of wine.
The food was delicious and plentiful, although the beef was a little over seasoned. Kobe beef just melts in your mouth, in my opinion it doesn’t need much salt or pepper or even the dipping sauce.
As you would expect, there are lots of Kobe beef places in Kobe, some offer a more personalized experience with master chefs explaining the details of the meal with a much quieter atmosphere but the prices are usually double or triple what you pay at Steakland. For affordable Kobe beef in Kobe, Steakland is the place to go.
Lunch last order is at 2pm on weekdays and and dinner kicks off again from 5pm. Weekends and public holiday the restaurant is open through the day.
