Profile
Sumaura Sanjo Yuen Park (須磨浦山上遊園) is a family friendly park with multiple attractions for kids and great views looking over Kobe, Akashi and Awaji.
The park itself is conveniently located at Sumaurakoen Station on the Sanyo line. It is free to enter if you choose to hike up, just head to the left side of the station and cross the bridge over the train tracks and you will find the path to head up.
There are many rides to get you up the mountain too, this is especially good for families with younger children. You can take the ropeway to the East Observatory, the carlator to the main Observation Tower and a sightseeing lift to the attractions at the top pf the park. You can buy a full circuit ticket or individual tickets (we paid for the ropeway up oneway at ¥450 and walked to other areas of the park and hiked down).
Sumaura Park has plenty to do and see with plum orchids, a Japanese rose garden, a cycle monorail, a BBQ terrace, retro game center and more.
Spring is particularly attractive with 3.200 cherry blossoms in bloom towards the end of March / beginning of April.
