Profile
Tainohata Yakuyoke Hachimangu 多井畑厄除八幡宮 is a Shinto shrine in the Suma area of Kobe. It is one of the oldest sacred shrines in Japan to ward off evil spirits.
Every January they have a special festival with street stalls lining the entrance to the shrine. This is especially popular for people in their “Yakudoshi” or bad luck years. Men aged 25, 42 and 61 and woman aged 19, 33 & 37 are considered the ages to be most unlucky.
From Suma you can catch a bus or it is about 2.2km walk from Myohoji Station on the Kobe subway line.
