Profile
Takeda Castle Ruins are located in the middle of Hyogo Prefecture, about 1h:45min drive from Kobe. It’s often referred to as the “Machu Picchu of Japan” or the “Castle in the Sky”.
If you arrive early in the morning (around 6 am) during the Autumn season, it might be possible to view the castle amongst the Unkai – Sea of Clouds. If you are a keen photographer or want to get a good view of the castle, head across to Ritsuun-Kyo Valley on the opposite side of the Valley.
Entry to Takeda Castle is ¥500 and opening times vary depending on the season, check out the website (in English) for further details or download the official Asago tourist guide PDF).
