The Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum 竹中大工道具館 is a beautiful gallery which showcases the world of Japanese carpentry connecting tradition and innovation.
The museum is divided into 7 sections over 3 floors of well thought out architectural design. The lobby hosts various temporary exhibits throughout the year. The permanent exhibits have some hands on displays and a workshop for you to create your own souvenir (extra costs involved, check official site for more details).
Entrance is ¥500 and there is a nice lounge a the back of the museum where you can relax with a drink from a vending machine overlooking the small Japanese garden. The Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum has plenty of English signage and English audio guide.
