Several establishments opened their doors today as part of the ongoing redevelopment of the Suma Seaside Aquarium and Seaside Park, centred around the upcoming ‘Kobe Suma Sea World’. From a bohemian-inspired cafe and BBQ park to the first Red Lobster store in Hyogo Prefecture, these new additions are set to enhance the appeal of the region.

YURT CAFE & BBQ PARK Suma Store

Opening its doors on September 1st, the ‘YURT CAFE & BBQ PARK Suma Store’ is located in the “Matsunomori Village (Nigiwai Facility)” area of the Kobe Municipal Suma Seaside Park. Designed with a bohemian style inspired by the tent houses on the west coast of the United States, the establishment aims to foster a sense of community while providing a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.

The BBQ area boasts 276 seats, divided into different sections, each with its own unique ambiance. Visitors can enjoy the greenery and sea breeze in the ‘PARK area’ with wooden tents, feel the sea breeze on the cafe’s rooftop ‘ROOF TOP area’, or opt for the all-weather ‘WOOD DECK area’ on the cafe’s terrace, available for both ‘bring-your-own’ and ‘hands-free BBQ plans’. The CAFE area includes 128 seats on the terrace and offers a menu of local and global food and drinks inspired by comfort food from the west coast of the United States.

Red Lobster Suma Seaside Park Store

The ‘Red Lobster Suma Seaside Park Store’ is a significant addition to the region as the first Red Lobster store in Hyogo Prefecture. Situated just a 10-second walk from the Suma coast in the ‘Matsunomori Village’ area, the restaurant spans 233.42 square meters and includes 100 seats inside, 60 seats on the second-floor terrace, and 100 seats in the rooftop free space. The interior features a navy-based color scheme, warm wood accents, and decorations and murals of lobsters and ship cabins.

The a la carte menu includes a variety of options such as ‘COLD Oysters’, ‘Oyster Uni Sauce Bake’, ‘Soft Shell Crab’, ‘Lobster Bisque Pie Wrap’, ‘Shrimp Pie Pizza’, ‘Chef’s Paella’, and ‘Watari Crab Tomato Pasta’. The lunch menu offers a ‘Harbor Set’ and a ‘Lobster Set’, both of which include free refill drinks, shrimp salad, today’s appetizer, and lobster fondue. A mini dessert can be added for an additional 330 yen. Additionally, the restaurant offers Suma Seaside Park store-limited menus, such as ‘Golden Lobster & Kobe Beef Hamburger’ and ‘Lobster Sandwich (lunchtime only, takeout available)’.

Kobe Suma Sea World and Matsunomori Village

The former Suma Seaside Aquarium, affectionately known as ‘Sumasui’, is undergoing a transformation and will reopen as the ‘Kobe Suma Sea World’ and a resort hotel in June next year. In anticipation of this opening, a part of the Suma Seaside Park, including a lawn square, basketball court, and large complex playground equipment, is now open to the public. The ‘Matsunomori Village’ area of the park includes five shops, one of which is a Starbucks Coffee, and a facility with a historical gallery.
