Hidden away down a back laneway and up 3 flights of stairs is Food Bar Akari. This little bar is one of those places you might not expect much from when you first enter but you end up staying longer than planned and always have a good time.
Owner Haku-chan speaks great English and creates a welcoming atmosphere making conversation and introducing you to other customers. All drinks are at en exceptional price of just ¥500 and there are no entrance or seating charges like you find in many other small bars in Japan.
Drinks include Asahi, Sapporo & Carlsberg beer, shochu, whiskey and all your basic spirits and mixes.
It just sits 10 people with a small booth space and counter stools. Customers come from all walks of life from regular business people, to pro wrestlers, musicians, other bar staff and more.
Although the name of the place is Food Bar Akari, no food is served here besides some free snacks Haku-chan will give you when you order.
Available for bookings and private parties. Open from 7pm to late (Haku-chan might close early if it is a quiet night).
