How will the Osaka G20 Summit impact Kobe?

Leaders of the G20 will gather in Osaka on 28 & 29 June 2019 for the first ever G20 Summit in Japan.

With Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe city’s close proximity to Osaka and Kansai International Airport, the major gateway for the region, there will be a number of services suspended and tighter security.

If you are traveling to Hyogo (or Kansai) during this time please take note of some of the effects below.

Kansai Airport Limousine Buses Suspended.

The airport limousine bus to Kobe, Nishinomiya and other cities in the region will be suspended from 27 June to 30 June. A midnight bus only will operate to Kobe on the 28th – 30th.

Kobe Bay Shuttle Suspended.

The high speed boat service linking Kobe to Kansai Airport will be suspended on Thursday 27 June and Saturday 29 June. Operations are expected as normal on the 28th and 30th but might be affected due to traffic restrictions.

Lockers around all major stations closed.

Lockers will be closed from Monday Jun 24th to Saturday 29th in most areas. Garbage bins around major train stations in Kansai will also be sealed during this time.
