To welcome in the new era Reiwa on May 1st, a large parade of 45 danjiri will take place on Yamate Kanden Street between JR Settsu-Motoyama Station and Hankyu Okamoto Station.
Danjiri are large wooden carts in the shape of a shrine or temple. Local neighborhoods around Kobe usually have their own Danjiri festivals at various times of the year. May 1st however is a unique event to welcome the new emperor. The neighborhoods will be coming together for this special parade. Over 20,000 people are expected to attend.
